Overview

Heritage Christian Services is seeking an engaging and self-motivated nurse educator to provide top quality education and training to our team of dedicated professionals. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing staff education and training programs with an emphasis on clinical education and skills competency of nurses and direct support staff.

 

Pay for this position:  $ 79000 / yr - $83000 / yr

 

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting

Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Maintenance

  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance staff education and training programs to align with the agency’s evolving needs and commitment to high-quality care.
  • Ensure all curricula remain current, evidence-based, and compliant with agency policies and regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate and refine course content, including assessments and learning materials, to optimize educational outcomes.
  • Identify and develop new educational resources to support staff development and enhance learning opportunities.

Staff Training and Development

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate nursing course, with the ability to step in and instruct when needed.
  • Ensure comprehensive course offerings and appropriate instructional support.
  • Conduct needs assessments to tailor educational programs to diverse learning styles and professional development goals.
  • Implement innovative training methodologies, incorporating hands-on learning and skills-based instruction to enhance competency.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant on best practices in adult education, instructional strategies, and professional development.
  • Provide informal guidance and support to course instructors to ensure consistency in content delivery and adherence to program objectives.
  • Proactively assess training needs and implement targeted initiatives to address emerging challenges and enhance workforce capabilities.

Compliance and Quality Improvement

  • Ensure all training programs comply with OPWDD education regulations and other relevant standards.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with annual competency assessments and skill attestations, addressing gaps as needed to uphold quality standards.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred: minimum of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Must possess current valid license as a registered nurse in the state of New York
  • 3-5 years’ experience working as a registered nurse in a clinical setting
  • Experience serving people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred
  • Preferred experience teaching adult learners
  • Strong oral /written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
