Overview

The Data Analyst/Visualizer is responsible for designing and implementing a coordinated approach with product owners to define, measure, and improve the quality of data, ensuring its fitness-for-purpose and alignment with the business needs it serves. The role also supports and advances data visualization practices, with an emphasis on Power BI, to enhance organizational insights and decision-making.

Note: Product owners are the designated “go-to” individuals within a department or for a specific platform who serve as subject matter experts on the usability, accuracy, and completeness of the data. They ensure data is available in a timely and meaningful way to measure performance and drive improvement. Product owners may or may not be the personnel responsible for entering the data.

 

Pay for this position:  $ 30.88 / hr - $ 32.85 / hr

 

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting

Responsibilities

  • Design and teach a curriculum to promote data literacy and the principles of data quality and visualization across the organization.
  • Partner with product owners to gather, clarify, and translate business requirements for Power BI reports, including creating mock-ups and wireframes.
  • Communicate the roles and responsibilities of product owners across the agency.
  • Collaboratively develop and implement processes that balance centralized standards with department-level flexibility.
  • Define, gain consensus around, and clearly communicate expectations for product owner engagement in data governance.
  • Assist in identifying key product owners and ensuring alignment with data platforms and business processes.
  • Assign data quality responsibilities and monitor adherence to defined quality standards.
  • Create and document standard work for cleansing, structuring, and preparing data for various use cases.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with product owners to align on data quality and visualization standards.
  • Work with product owners to execute data cleansing plans and participate in root cause analysis of data issues.
  • Maintain an enterprise data issue log and follow through on resolutions.
  • Partner with business and IT teams to identify and resolve data quality and visualization issues.
  • Recommend process improvements to support sustainable data quality and visual reporting practices.
  • Ensure stakeholders are informed of key data decisions, standards, and updates.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and visualization best practices
  • Strong ability to build consensus across diverse functions and levels of seniority
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a team-based, evolving environment
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Curiosity and drive to stay current on emerging tools, techniques, and trends in data visualization
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for transforming data into insights through effective storytelling and visualization
