Overview

Get ready to meet 6 amazing individuals who want companionship, to play games, do arts and crafts, write and talk with. They also love going out into the community, going for walks around the neighborhood, going out places like the zoo, concerts, the Strong Museum, beach days, etc!

They also need support with personal care (freshening after usig the bathroom, bathing, getting dressed), assisting with meals.

You will assist them with keeping their home clean, assist with daily chores like laundry, dishes, organizing their bedrooms and helping with decorating their rooms to express who they are, etc.

Challenges that can be faced: a few folks have anxiety and need extra support in that moment, routines can be important to avoid some challenges.  We see that it can get loud if individuals are overstimulated, or other housemates are around and staff need to be present and aware of what is going on to help the situation. We also support an individual with Dementia and as it progresses, this can be challenging.

You have to be flexible each day and roll with the punches. If an outing is canceled due to weather or staffing, come up with other ideas to still have fun! Some days are fast paced and busy, and some days can be slow and peaceful, there are always things to do and ways to help around the house or support the individuals in things that they are interested in. You will learn to build connections with each and every individual differently and learn their strengths. The people we support bring a light into your life, they teach you patience and grace with every shift you work.

You will get minimum 3 days training on each individual and if you need more training, you will receive that.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Pay for this position is $20.50 / hr with shift differentials offered as well.
