  • Overview

    The Training and Organization Development Specialist (TODS) is responsible for the collaborative design, development and implementation of a comprehensive, competency based supported employment training curricula. In addition the TODS will collaborate in development and dissemination of technical assistance materials to support organizational development with supported employment service providers.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct scholarly and practical research on best practices in supported employment, workforce development and vocational rehabilitation
    • Develop competency based curricula and technical assistance materials as prescribed by funding partners, using prescribed training format design and templates
    • Create multi-modal learning activities to support knowledge acquisition and translation
    • Maintain communication with key stakeholders and project partner liaisons for the purpose of partnership building, program marketing outreach, materials review and revisions.
    • Provide statewide (NYS) training sessions as outlined in the CHSE Work Plan
    • Work with CHSE Director/Associate Director and funding partners to interpret session evaluation data and implement changes in materials or training provision accordingly
    • Work with CHSE Director/Associate Director to coordinate CHSE training work plan development and management

    Qualifications

    • Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Organizational Leadership or Instructional Design (preferred subject areas)  Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree will be considered with demonstrated experience in Supported Employment and Training Delivery
    • Demonstrated involvement with statewide VR/OPWDD funded employment services ( 3-5 years)
    • Comprehensive knowledge of core rehabilitation services  
    • Demonstrated involvement with local/regional and/or statewide Supported Employment stakeholder groups or consortiums
    • Demonstrated curricula development and training skills
    • Demonstrated training delivery skills (evaluation samples and training audition will be required) 
    • Ability to travel within New York state (will include overnight travel), and to make related travel arrangements; Must have the ability to be away from home for multiple days to provide training sessions, technical assistance or attend project meetings
    • Sustain a concentrated work effort of up to eight hours per day, 5 days per week
    • Lift boxes of training materials (10-50lbs)
    • Have a valid NYS driver’s license that meets Agency standards
