    The Specialist works as part of a holistic care team to ensure that the people who choose the services of Heritage Christian Services are offered spiritual growth opportunities and connections with faith communities of their choice. To support and promote the mission, vision and values of Heritage Christian Services, Inc.


    1. Role modeling the mission of Heritage Christian Services in action.
    2. Be a resource and provide support to assist with building bridges with people and their chosen faith communities or other groups of significance to the person; assist people who choose our services in connecting and becoming involved, in a personally meaningful way, with the faith community of their choice.
    3. Offer supports for faith communities and leaders to assist them in developing inclusive practices that will enhance the spiritual and religious expressions of all people in their faith community.
    4. Be available as a resource for people who choose Heritage Christian's services, their families and agency staff for discovering and strengthening community connections; be knowledgeable of available community resources.
    5. Annually, at each program/department, provide an in-service related to the agency mission statement and the role of community faith connections as a place to serve, to use gifts and talents, and to genuinely belong. 
    6. Be familiar with the faith community attendance/connections of people who choose Heritage Christian's services.
    7. Support community retreat opportunities and periodically provide retreats of an inclusive nature to bring people of like interests together.
    8. Provide support to people served as they experience life changing times such as a major illness, end of life, death in their family, marriage, profession of faith, etc.
    9. Maintain Positive Supports, CPR and First Aid certifications, as well as current medication administration certification; availability to work evening, overnight and weekend hours (including occasional Sunday mornings).


    • Associates or bachelor’s degree in human services or ministry preferred; minimum of a high school diploma or GED required
    • Experience providing direct support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Valid driver’s license that is in compliance with Heritage Christian Services’ motor vehicle record standards, and reliable transportation to and from work
    • Familiar with the principles of Asset Based Community Development
