    Make a difference in peoples' lives every day when you go to work. Morning is the busiest part of the day in anyone's life. How that morning starts sets the tone for the rest of the day. Come work in a direct support position that supports people with disabilities to get up, get ready and GO! You will be assisting with daily morning routines that will vary from person to person. Help with breakfast, getting dressed, support with medications, and household chores. Motivate others to start the day out right.

    Responsibilities

    1. Provide consistent support based on what really matters to each individual person.
    2. Support each individual in advocating for the changes he/she would like to see in the support he/she utilizes. Assists those you support in conveying this information to appropriate people within their circle of support.
    3. Promote an environment where people feel safe and supported, and assist them to explore their potential.
    4. To be familiar with fire and emergency procedures and provide support to individuals in emergency situations according to Individualized Plan of Protective Oversight.
    5. Assist in the administration of medications in accordance with the Medication Policy of Heritage Christian Services.
    6. Document on and assist individuals in maintaining tools to encourage them to grow and develop. Tools may include but are not limited to: habilitation plans, behavior support plans, individual plans of protection, and individual service plans.
    7. Support people you serve with facilitating a lifestyle of health and wellness including their individualized dietary needs.

    Qualifications

    • Be a morning person with energy to get people up and going for the day!
    • Minimum of High School diploma or GED
    • Valid driver’s license that is in compliance with Heritage Christian Services’ motor vehicle record standards, and reliable transportation to and from work
    • Experience working with people who have an intellectual or developmental disability is preferred. Must be able to work effectively with all people
    • Physical ability to effectively implement proper lifting and transfer techniques
    • Assist people with any needed intimate personal care
    • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Basic computer skills and knowledge
