Heritage Christian Services is seeking candidates for the Director of Respite Services position. In this role, you will be responsible for administrative oversight for the respite programs in the Finger Lakes region. Your responsibilities include the coordination of services and assuring records, services and supports are maintained in compliance with all program, agency standards, and all applicable State and Federal regulations. Supports and promotes the mission, vision and values of Heritage Christian Services, Inc.


  • Provides ongoing supervision, evaluation, training and coaching to the Respite leadership team.  Responsible for developing and monitoring metrics that inform Agency standards and business practices.
  • Develops and executes strategic vision and direction for the respite department, in alignment with Agency strategic map.  Responsible for carrying out projects in the strategy map and for ensuring ownership and involvement with teammates supervised.
  • Oversees the operations of the respite programs in the Finger Lakes region; which includes providing quality services and meeting Heritage Christian Services expectations and all applicable State and Federal regulations. 
  • Ensures all site-based respite billing is completed monthly according to Medicaid billing standards; complete billing audits as identified by Agency protocol.
  • Responsible for communicating with key stakeholders, which may include people supported, families, Agency leadership, managers and clinicians, as we strive for strong alignment in carrying out the Agency mission.  
  • Engages in meaningful and collaborative relationship management with other Agency directors and leaders.
  • Ensures compliance with the Agency Compass plan and is actively engaged with the Agency’s Person-Centered Excellence plan with the Center for Quality and Leadership (CQL).
  • Assures that services to people supported in respite services are provided with a person-centered approach that meets or exceeds the Home and Community Based Waiver Service requirements, OPWDD regulations, and applicable State and Federal laws.
  • Leads the respite team with capital budgeting process.
  • Assists in the development of the annual budget for respite services.
  • Serves as a positive role model for direct support staff and individuals served. Interacts with others in a way which will assist direct support staff in developing behaviors, skills and attitudes necessary for success.
  • Develops, in collaboration with team members, policies and procedures and assures that applicable policies and procedures are carried out.
  • Assists with coverage of direct support shifts as needed.
  • Acts as administrator on duty on assigned weekends and holidays.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.



  • Five years of experience in a leadership position within a human services field that provides services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field preferred.
  • Demonstrates solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates respect in all matters related to diversity and inclusion, and treats people supported, families and co-workers equitably
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • A valid NYS driver’s license that is in compliance with Agency standards
