Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Day Services, the Senior Direct Support Professional is responsible for supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Senior Direct Support Professional serves as role model for other support staff and provides support to a variety of day habilitation locations as determined by the Associate Director. The Senior Direct Support Professional implements habilitation plans and all other support plans for each person throughout all on-site and community based activities.  The Senior Direct Support Professional will also support and promote the mission, vision and values of Heritage Christian Services, Inc.

1. Implement each individual’s Staff Action Plans as designed by that individual, the Habilitation Manager and support team and document accordingly.
2. Follow consistent, aggressive educational programs using the 3 IP principles. These programs, both formally and informally, seize every opportunity to promote individual growth toward independence, integration, individualization and productivity.
3. Provide the primary health, personal care, and physical care needed by the individual as written. As needed, assists with individual rehabilitation and appointments.  Will include lifting or transferring of individuals in that utilize wheelchairs and providing other assistance as needed.
4. Supports individuals in full citizenship within their community: engaging in productive, meaningful activities, engaging in community participation and contribution, and developing meaningful relationships.
5. Provide safe transportation for the individuals supported and assist with maintenance of the vehicles as needed.
6. Successfully complete Medication Administration Course and administer medications (in certified settings) to individuals in accordance with the Medication Policy of Heritage Christian Services.
7. Complete cleaning tasks as deemed appropriate by the Day Habilitation Manager. These tasks may include; assisting with meal preparation, cleaning, assisting with laundry and shopping or other tasks necessary for maintaining a safe, clean environment.
8. Participate in scheduled training required by Heritage Christian Services. Actively participate in in-service sessions and other staff training sessions, implementing new procedures and employing physical interventions if necessary.
9. Attend scheduled staff meetings and contribute toward effectiveness of both the Staff Action Plans and the general day hab program.
10. Communicate needs or general information regarding the individuals in the program to the manager, and clinician as appropriate to aid in the development or improvement of the Day Habilitation plan and educational procedures.
11. Understand site-specific fire and emergency procedures and to assist with fire drills as appropriate via the individual’s specific evacuation plans.
12. Assume shift coordinator responsibilities when requested by supervisor.
13. Working as a team member to consistently ensure that all possible is being done to promote the individuals highest welfare.
14. Utilize special skills or abilities to add to the diversity or the program.
15. Work at a variety of day habilitation locations, as determined by the Associate Director of Day Services

• Minimum of High School diploma or high school equivalency; college experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license that meets Heritage Christian motor vehicle standards.
• Physical ability to lift over 50 pounds and provide assistance to people who require assistance with transfers.
• Experience with persons who have intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
