Pay rate for this position:  $65000 - $72000 / year

 

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting

Responsibilities

  • Embrace a person-first holistic approach to health care, in compliance with regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Implement nursing care plans for people supported.
  • Watch and assess how the direct support staff provides health services, including passing medication. Teach the staff about health topics like infection control, oral care, and vital signs, and renew their medication passing certification.
  • Provide oversight to the direct support staff’s provision of health-related services and observing the person’s health care needs.
  • Will use the Five Rights of Delegation when assigning medical tasks to direct care staff.
  • Teach health care topics (Exposure Control Plan, Infection Control, oral care, skin integrity, constipation, seizures, vitals signs, confidentiality, medical progress notes) to direct support staff
  • Implement the Nursing Service Plan & Nursing Plan of Care
  • Observe direct support staff in passing medications and renewing med certification for these staff
  • Provide on-call for direct support staff and LPNs as needed
  • Teach the OPWDD Medication Administration Course
  • Fulfill the responsibilities as addressed in each individual nursing policy

Qualifications

  • New York State licensure as a registered nurse
  • Long-term care experience preferred

  • Ability to effectively present and communicate information to audiences with a variety of knowledge/skill levels
  • A valid driver license with a record of responsible driving
