Overview

 

Under the supervision of the Day Habilitation Manager, the Baker is responsible for the overall operations of the Bakery and finding opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be a part of those operations. This includes assisting people with learning bakery related skills. The Baker will also support and promote the mission, vision and values of Heritage Christian Services, Inc.

 

Pay range for this position $18 / hr to $20 / hr

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for receiving bakery orders, filling orders in a timely manner, and following New York State health codes.
  2. Measuring and combining ingredients and using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, bread, cakes, etc.
  3. Decorating and displaying finished products.
  4. Order supplies for the bakery, while staying within budget.
  5. Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the bakery, including equipment and tools.
  6. Provide positive, professional customer service.
  7. Evaluate, assess and change menu as needed.
  8. Provide learning opportunities to people served, in all areas of the bakery.
  9. There will be times when certain direct support responsibilities will be needed such as following plans, providing supervision, implementing staff action plans, documenting on services within those plans, and working as a team member to consistently ensure that all possible is being done to promote the individuals’ highest welfare.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School diploma or high school equivalency
  • Obtain and maintain Food Handler Certification
  • Valid driver’s license that meets Heritage Christian motor vehicle standards.
  • Physical ability to lift over 50 pounds and provide assistance to people who require assistance with transfers.
  • Experience with persons who have intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
