Overview

Responsible for assisting the therapy team to maintain and repair adaptive equipment used for people’s mobility throughout the agency. Examples of equipment to be maintained by this position, include but are not limited to, wheelchairs, ambulation aids, bathing/toileting equipment, standers, or any equipment that supports seating, positioning, mobility to enhance independence and/or safety. To support the mission, vision and values of Heritage Christian Services, Inc.

 

Pay for this position:  $16 / hr - $18 / hr

 

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting

Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive work environment, working respectfully and collaboratively across all departments, and with people supported who use adaptive equipment.
  • Assess equipment and repair as appropriate. If needed, call vendor for repair.
  • Utilize common tools to complete required tasks.
  • Follow safe work practices at all times. This includes the safe use of ladders, power tools, and safety equipment at all times as well as the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (gloves, safety glasses, etc).
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs.
  • Maintain database of wheelchairs and adaptive equipment in use and stored by agency.
  • Assist in bed safety monitoring, following agency policy and procedure.
  • Provide staff in-services regarding taking care of all adaptive equipment, including be not limited to mechanical lifts, wheelchairs, cushions, walkers, etc.
  • Collaboration with therapy team when equipment cannot be repaired to facilitate ordering of new equipment.

Qualifications

· High School diploma or high school equivalency required.

· Physical ability to kneel, bend, and lift up to 50lbs required.

· Proficiency in the safe use of common tools required.

· Prior experience/familiarity with repair of adaptive equipment required.

· Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required.

· Strong time management and self-motivation skills required.

· A valid NYS driver’s license that is in compliance with Agency standards required.

· Prior experience with developmental disabilities is preferred.
